Palmarito Sea Turtle Rescue
Palmarito Sea Turtle Rescue is a nonprofit organization dedicated to protecting endangered sea turtles along the Southern Pacific coast of Oaxaca, Mexico. Its work focuses on safeguarding nesting beaches, relocating vulnerable nests to protected hatcheries, releasing hatchlings, and supporting long-term marine conservation through research, education, and community engagement.
The organization patrols more than 22 kilometers of coastline during nesting season, protecting Olive Ridley, East Pacific green, and critically endangered Leatherback turtles from threats including poaching, predators, fishing activity, plastic pollution, and habitat loss. Each year, the team protects hundreds of nests and releases tens of thousands of hatchlings into the Pacific Ocean.
